Instructor: Alaine Duncan

Alaine Duncan
Biography:

Alaine Duncan's unique approach integrates ancient principles of Chinese medicine with polyvagal theory and the neurobiology of the self-protective response in both the classroom and the treatment room. This clinical fascination has carried her heart to places and people she would not have imagined when she graduated from what is now Maryland University of Integrative Health in 1990, and completed Somatic Experiencing training in 2007.

Alaine worked as an acupuncturist, researcher and educator with service members and veterans from 2005-2017 in both DoD and VA settings. Her research experience includes studies exploring the impact of integrative medicine on compassion fatigue in military caregivers; and acupuncture for treatment of combat-related PTSD, chronic headaches in veterans with traumatic brain injuries, pain in veterans of all conflicts; and Gulf War Veterans Illness.

Her book, The Tao Trauma: A Practitioner's Guide for Integrating Five Element Theory and Trauma Treatment is the foundation for her classes. It is available in print, audio and kindle wherever you buy books on line.
