Lt. John Maritato has been employed with Lake Region State College as Director of Peace Officer Training and the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department since May 2012. Before becoming the Director of Peace Officer Training he worked for the Devils Lake Police Department for 12 years. John's duties with the Devils Lake Police Department included patrolman, School Resource Officer and Detective. John is currently licensed with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department and Lake Region State College PD.

John was the school resource officer in Devils Lake for 8 years. While in the Devils Lake schools, John assisted the school district write the policies and procedures for active shooter and lock downs.

In 2015 John attended ALICE Training, train the trainer. ALICE is a method of responding to an active shooter or an emergency situation. John has taught and assisted Lake Region State College and other schools, businesses and facilities with training and suggestions on making their environment's prepared in case of an emergency.
