Course Detail: EMR1 - Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system. EMRs have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional Emergency Medical Service resources to arrive. EMRs also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response. Under medical oversight, Emergency Medical Responders perform basic interventions with minimal equipment.
This 5-day, in-person course will prepare students for state licensure as an Emergency Medical Responder. In addition, students will complete American Heart Association's Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider CPR training, resulting in CPR/AED certification for two years from the training date.
Books will be provided. Students should be prepared for a 30-minute lunch break.
Must be 16 of years of age to become a state certified EMR.
