Course Detail: IVAS - LPN IV Therapy Assignment for DNP ADN Students

The LPN IV Therapy Assignment is a way Dakota Nursing Program students can gain IV therapy certification if they:
1) are current LPNs in an ADN program,
2) have successfully completed the necessary IV Therapy skills labs and passed the appropriate intravenous therapy theory examination in NURS 227, and
3) would like to utilize IV skills in the workplace sooner than the completion of their degree.

In May 2012, TrainND Northeast at Lake Region State College and the Dakota Nursing Program received approval from the North Dakota Board of Nursing to offer this certification process to eligible LPN students seeking to perform intravenous therapy in the workplace prior to the completion of their Associate Degree in Nursing. Gaining certification earlier than graduation not only allows students to gain experience and knowledge in IV therapy in the workplace earlier but also allows employers to utilize their staff to the fullest potential while the student is working on the completion of their degree.
