This comprehensive 5-week course provides the theoretical knowledge and hands-on flight experience necessary to become a federally certified commercial drone pilot.
Description: Take your career to new heights with the Jaguar STARS Drone Program, an exclusive, grant-funded initiative designed to transition individuals into the high-growth field of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). This comprehensive 5-week course provides the theoretical knowledge and hands-on flight experience necessary to become a federally certified commercial drone pilot.
Through a partnership between Governors State University and Earthrise Energy, students will master the complexities of the National Airspace System, advanced cinematic flight maneuvers, and industrial thermal sensor technology.
What You Will Learn:
- FAA Part 107 Mastery: In-depth preparation for the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate, covering weather, regulations, loading, and performance.
- Cinematic Flight Operations: Professional techniques for high-value media production, real estate, and filmmaking.
- Industrial Thermal Imaging: An introduction to using infrared sensors for structural inspections, search and rescue, and precision agriculture.
- Safety & Logistics: Pre-flight checklists, emergency recovery, and airspace authorization procedures.

Mandatory Schedule & Locations
Students must commit to all five sessions to remain eligible for the grant and drone reward.
Eligibility Requirements
This course is specifically reserved for residents of Will County who meet low-income eligibility requirements. Selection is based on an application process focusing on commitment, professional interest, and readiness to enter the UAS workforce.
