Course Description: Join us for a comprehensive 9-day course designed to prepare aspiring home inspectors for success in the field. This partnership with Heartland Education & Training Group (A Group of Instructors dedicated to Home Inspection & Real Estate Training), ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors), The ASHI School, and Governors State University offers a dynamic program leveraging the latest curriculum, which includes, hands on training, practical experience, real property scenarios with 5 field events homes. Led by experienced, successful industry professionals, willing to share their knowledge and successes with you. This course covers essential topics such as home inspection principles, techniques, and state regulations. Through a blend of engaging lectures, hands-on exercises, and practical training and marketing, participants will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct thorough home inspections with confidence. Upon completion of the course and successful passing of the certification exam, participants will receive a certification compliant with the state of Illinois requirements for home inspectors. Note: This course follows the guidelines set by the American Home Inspectors Training Institute (AHIT) and meets the requirements for home inspector certification in the state of Illinois.

Course Requirements:

  • Full Attendance and active participation in all sessions. (students cannot miss any sessions)
  • Must complete all readings and homework.

Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, including the final project and exam, participants will receive a certification that is compliant with the state of Illinois requirements for home inspectors.

Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation requires that your final course exam be proctored for pre-license and continuing education.

Requirements to Become an Illinois Home Inspector

  • Illinois home inspection education hours: 60 hours
  • Inspections: 5 home inspections
  • Exam Required: IL Home Inspector Examination
  • Home Inspection License Expiration: 11/30 every two years

***This course is compliant with the IDFPR guidelines set to take effect for January 2025. 

Registration in this course includes a 1-year membership to ASHI, American Society of Home Inspectors, a $450 value. And two NIC-ASHI, Northern Illinois Chapter of American Society of Home Inspectors networking dinners, $150 value.
