This is an 8-hour controls class that teaches the operation, troubleshooting, and the "Need to Know" aspects of an electrical controls system found in industry today. PowerPoint presentation and hands-on practice will be used during this class. Journeyman and master electricians are NO LONGER required to have a total of 24 hours of continuing education every three years in order to renew their license, but we still want to offer this education and experience.


Saturday, October 3, 2026, Industry and Trades Center Building
This 8-hour course is intended to prepare students to take the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Section 608 Certification exam. This course provides students with the knowledge on proper handling, recovery, and disposal of refrigerants used in air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, in accordance with Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, enabling technicians to safely service and maintain appliances containing regulated refrigerants while minimizing environmental impact. This is not a formal refrigeration training course. Anyone taking this course should be familiar with the basic vapor-compression refrigeration cycle, as well as common service principles, practices, and procedures.
