This session covers when students and/or families should begin searching and applying for available scholarships, different types of criteria for scholarships, how to develop an impressive application for scholarships, WSU invitational, general and departmental scholarships, how to search the web and how to avoid scholarship scams. We'll also cover federal financial aid and other solutions that can make college more affordable. Much of the information covered is intended for new or prospective college students. This presentation provides information and does not provide individual assistance.

It's never too early or too late to plan for retirement. A good plan will help you preserve your capital, grow your assets and create an income stream that will sustain your lifestyle in your retirement years. In this class you will learn about the various types of predictable income such as annuities, Social Security, and pensions. Topics to be discussed include: the difference between variable, fixed, immediate and indexed annuities, specifically, how they work, how the different fees are applied, and how the different riders work; the different types of Social Security benefits, retirement, spousal, survivor, disability and when to take the benefits; and the pension methods companies use to determine employee benefits, including the difference between distribution choices available.
