Mark Twain's Humorous Political Justifications

Mark Twain was a political writer whose humorous prose masked a far deeper look into the human condition. What seemed a "boys' book" in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was a glimpse into what really took place on Huck and Jim's journey down the Mississippi River. Far from being a "boy's book" or a racist novel, the work is an attack on racial inequality. Explore how Twain used humor in his writing to portray inequality&emdash;even on the raft. Read then bring to class any edition of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain.
