Controlled Chaos: The Flight Deck of an Aircraft Carrier

Aircraft carriers are the largest warships ever put to sea. Each carrier is sovereign U.S. territory--a floating city with a 24-hour airport and a population dedicated to protecting U.S. interests and keeping the peace. Lloyd's of London rates working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier as one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Even the smallest mistake can result in an accident. You need to keep your head on a swivel, trust others and understand the danger when working on a carrier's flight deck. Coordination and precision are key. Learn about both the perceived chaos and the well-thought-out system behind deck operations.
