Suspended Scaffold Safety Awareness

The Suspended Scaffold Safety Awareness Course is designed to give Site Supervisors, Foreman, and Safety managers a detailed overview of the hazardous conditions associated with suspended scaffold use and installation. The course covers the identification, evaluation, prevention, and control of suspended scaffold hazards. Workers from the trades and crafts that use suspended scaffolding will also benefit greatly from this course. The class includes an explanation of the OSHA standards pertaining to suspended scaffolds along with current industry best practices. At the conclusion of the course, students will have an awareness level of identifying suspended scaffold hazards and methods to control and abate the hazards.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Identify types and major components of suspended scaffold systems
  • Recognize common causes and prevention of scaffold accidents
  • Describe applicable OSHA 1926 standards regulating suspended scaffolds
  • Identify general principles of fall protection for suspended scaffolds
  • Identify proper scaffold user-safe work practices
  • Understand Hoist, platform, and rigging equipment practices
  • Understand maximum intended loads and capacities for scaffold equipment
  • Identify proper suspended scaffold inspection procedures
