Course Title: (SCI205) HUMAN EVOLUTION: UNDERSTANDING HOW WE GOT TO BE US

This is an OLLI Digital Library recording and is available to view until May 31, 2026.

The 21st century is a golden age for understanding human evolution. Multiple fields - anthropology, paleontology, geology, and climatology - are coming together, supported by new technologies. These include affordable DNA sequencing, advanced sensors, and IT tools for locating and dating ancient bones and artifacts, and tools for simulating and visualizing discoveries. Human evolution is far more complex than what was once portrayed in popular media - there wasn't just one migration out of Africa. This talk will explore major questions and theories in the field and feature expert video clips explaining how DNA evidence has greatly expanded our understanding of how humans evolved.
