For over 150 years, the Penn Center National Historic Landmark District on St. Helena Island, South Carolina, has stood as a symbol of African American resilience and achievement. It continues to inspire pride and belonging among the Gullah Geechee people-descendants of formerly enslaved West and Central Africans in the Sea Islands. This presentation highlights the Center's rich history and its ongoing programs and community impact today.
