Course Title: (HIS13626) PUERTO RICO, USA

How, when and why did Puerto Rico become part of the United States, and when did Puerto Ricans gain U.S. citizenship? This course explores the events leading to US territorial status, the failed independence movement, and ongoing debates over statehood, commonwealth, and independence. It also examines migration highlights notable Puerto Ricans figures such as Bad Bunny, Roberto Clemente, and Rita Moreno.
