Course Title: (GAR103) TREES OF THE LOWCOUNTRY DIVERSITY, LONGEVITY, AND HUMAN INTERVENTIONS

This is an OLLI Digital Library recording and is available to view until December 31, 2025.

Trees native to the Lowcountry are unique. Their growth patterns, maintenance procedures, stability issues, longevity, and ranges are mostly exclusive to their planting zone. Too many trees are being removed from our landscapes and too few are retained because of an irrational perception of the risks that they pose. Trees are multi-generational, and mature trees are maintained differently from their younger siblings. Pruning methods based on Conservation Arboriculture can keep them alive and stable for generations. This course will equip attendees to become educated arboricultural consumers.
