Fort Pulaski National Monument is a coastal fortification that was built between 1829 and 1847 to protect the port of Savannah. Learn more about Fort Pulaski at https://www.nps.gov/places/fort-pulaski.htm During this visit, attendees will tour the site with a park ranger to explore how the story of Fort Pulaski is written in the bricks - huge craters and embedded artillery projectiles demonstrate the power of rifled cannons; fingerprints preserved in the bricks speak to the institution of slavery and the fight for freedom; soldier graffiti and paintings on the walls connect us to historic figures who were just as creative as we are today. Following the ranger program, attendees have the opportunity to independently explore the fort and participate in an optional art activity to create artwork as a reflection of the program.
