|Biography: International Master, Matyas Marek is originally from the Czech Republic and is our newest UMBC Chess Team member. He is an International Master who has represented the Czech Republic at various Youth Championships, including the World Youth Chess Championships (Turkey, 2008; UAE, 2013; Greece, 2015; Russia, 2016), World Youth Team Olympiad (China, 2013), European Youth Championship (Georgia, 2015), and European Youth Team Championship (Poland, 2015). He won the Czech Youth Championship in various age categories nine times. Matyas is in his second year at UMBC, studying Bioinformatics.|
