This art history course follows the history of southern arts from Native Americans to Contemporary artists. The course is divided into sections: Pre-1600 Indigenous foundations and Native American tribes; 1600-1800s Colonial times and immigrant influences; 1800-1900s Antebellum Era and Post Reconstruction; 1900-1960s Appalachian Crafts and African American traditions; 1900-1960 Folk Art thru Civil Rights; 1970-2000s National recognition, famous Alabama and Huntsville artists. This course is presented by The University of Alabama in Huntsville as part of the OLLI Alabama Shares program.
