Graduates of Michigan schools of social work face mounting pressures to practice ethically in an age of a changing social media landscape, new and complex technology, and blurred role boundaries. Field placement supervisors are challenged to not only teach ethical principles to their students, but model them in their supervision practices. This interactive course will take a deep dive into three supervision roles/tasks that have the potential to incur ethical dilemmas and/or violations. Specifically, participants will hone their understanding of diversity competence, dual relationships, and scope of practice as they relate to their work as field supervisors. Small-group work will allow participants to brainstorm potential solutions to the dilemmas associated with these principles.
