Course Detail: WTTG801 - Certified Medical Administrative Assistant with Medical Billing and Coding

This 12-month 2-course program teaches students the fundamental skills to become an Administrative Medical Assistant and medical biller and coder. Students learn how to schedule appointments, enter demographic and insurance information into practice software, manage patient check-in, and check-out, answer phone calls, file and retrieve paper records, maintain electronic records, compose correspondence, performing daily financial practices, assign medical codes, and process insurance claims. In the Medical Billing and Coding course students first learn medical terminology and the medical disorders and common medical procedures. Students then learn the legal, ethical, and regulatory concepts central to this field. They master the phases of the revenue cycle-from patient registration through medical coding, claims submission, reimbursement, and collections. The program prepares students for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national certification exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and will choose which of three Medical Billing and Coding national certification exams to take.
