Course Detail: WTPL175 - Math for Lineworker Pre-Apprenticeship

This 45-hour course includes a review of math skills needed for the power industry as a result of this training students will be able to state the Order of Operations and perform calculations using real numbers, set notation, symbols, absolute values, fractions, complex fractions, mixed numbers, decimals, significant digits, percentages, exponents, and roots; define and calculate measurements involving length, area, volume, time, and speed; then calculate each using dissimilar units of measurement; create and use mathematical models from written and verbal information; and identify and utilize algebraic and trigonometric terms in calculations involving vectors, lines, angles, perimeter, area, and volume.

Schedule: This is a Hybrid Course with online and in-person lab work. Online course work begins August 15, 2024 and ends at 11:59pm on October 3, 2024. Lab work will be 6pm to 9pm on Tuesday and Thursday beginning August 15 and ending October 3, 2024 in MCPC-120-A.

Bulletin

Student's should come prepared the first day of class with a scientific calculator and writing/notetaking materials. **Student's wishing to use a laptop or digital note-taking tool should plan their seating accordingly since power outlets are limited. **Course is presented in-person Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm-9pm in the Miller Corporate Partnership Center (MCPC) room 120A.**Please see Canvas and/or Instructor for changes to class session.
