Course Detail: WTET960 - Elementary Methods of Teaching Health

This 15-hour course meets 1 day a week for 5 weeks. As a result of this training educators will be able to design and implement developmentally appropriate health education experiences that incorporate foundational knowledge, effective resources, and technology, while utilizing accommodations and modifications to meet the diverse needs of all students; articulate the interconnectedness of physical, mental and emotional, and social health across various contexts, demonstrating alignment with the Utah Core Standards for Health Education using Utah's Health Triangle; and exhibit professional ethics and culturally competent practices in health education, actively seeking opportunities for continuous professional development and demonstrating knowledge of advocacy strategies to promote health literacy and expanded wellness initiatives within the school community.
