Course Detail: AD2035 - Recurrence of Symptoms/Relapse Prevention

Students will understand: the view of substance use as a chronic problem and the need for long-term treatment, different approaches to treat substance use, how withdrawal syndromes can affect relapse prevention, different stage of recovery, changing role of the counselor, strategies in dealing with cravings and urges, recognize the internal warning signs as well as outside stimuli of pending relapse, impulse control, and "cost/benefit analysis." 15 Hrs
