Course Detail: Southeast Conference on Positive Behavior Interventions and Support
PBIS is not a "packaged curriculum" or geared toward "rewarding" students. School-wide PBIS is a prevention-oriented approach to school-wide discipline. Depending on the local culture and the needs of the school, school-wide PBIS plans adapt to fit the context and can look different across districts or even schools. It is a framework that focuses on the use of evidence-based practices and solid, effective data-based decision-making to improve academic and social contexts.
The Southeast Conference on Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) is a two-and-a-half day annual conference that provides training for schools and districts for developing school-wide behavioral intervention plans. Our five-tiered approach provides additional interventions for students as their behavioral/social needs increase. During this year's conference, participants will have the option of choosing from five strands for PBIS implementation. Sessions will emphasize preventing school-wide challenging behaviors, teaching desired school-wide behaviors and routines, and ensuring consistency among staff. At the completion of the conference, teachers will have plans and the materials necessary for effective and efficient implementation.
