Basic Food Prep

A study of the fundamental principles of food preparation and cookery to include Brigade System, cooking techniques, material handling, heat transfer, sanitation, safety, nutrition, and professionalism. This is not a leisure course. Continuing Ed students will be in the same class as credit hour students.

Basic Lifesaver CPR

Galveston College provides CPR training for individuals, companies, groups, and organizations with flexible scheduling. Students are trained by our American Heart Association (AHA) instructors to help infants as well as adults in an emergency situation.

Community Chorale

This is a non-auditioned organization of singers. The chorale performs at least three concerts a year in the community with repertoire ranging from classical sacred and secular music of the great composers to modern day contemporary music.

Cooking with Friends International/Cocinando con Amigos. Explore the different cuisines of the world. In this class we will briefly discuss the customs of Brazil, Mexico, China, and Italy.

Digital Photography and Photo Editing

Get the most out of your camera! Discover how to improve your pictures with the technical and artistic basics of digital photography. Topics include camera settings, basic compositions, and different types of photography.

Fancy Cookies

Hop into spring with this fun class in which you will make and decorate your own Easter cookies. Parents are welcome to register with their kids. Three hours on a Friday evening and three hours the following Saturday morning.

Fundamentals of Baking

Fundamentals of baking including dough, quick breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and tarts. Topics include baking terminology, tool and equipment use, formula conversions, functions of ingredients, and the evaluation of baked products. This is an overlay of a credit course.

Do you need help learning to operate a computer? For adults who lack familiary with computers, life in the modern age can be a challenge. This course covers basics such accessing email, search engines, social media platforms, etc.
