This course is designed as a 'bridge' option for current Early Childhood Special Educators to demonstrate competence on Teacher Performance Expectations embedded in the new Education Specialist Credentials that were launched Summer/Fall 2022. The Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approved the package and several updates to the Education Specialist Credential went into effect on July 1, 2022.

This course is designed to build educators' confidence and competence in incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) concepts and bringing them alive in the early childhood education classroom. STEM concepts advance children's cognitive and creative thinking skills and introduce them to a variety of topics and concepts that support their learning and growth in all other academic areas.


This course is an introductory course for supporting Multilingual Learners in the mainstream early learning classroom, ages 0-6; written for the general education teacher who has a population of MLLs in their mainstream classes, or for the ENL teacher. This foundational course discusses the similarities and differences of first and second language acquisition, asks students to consider the bilingual/multilingual accessibility of their physical classroom environment & school environment as well as how they utilize and incorporate bilingual helpers in their community.
