Course Detail: AVE-3302 - English for Air Traffic Control Trainees [AVE-3302]

Overview 

English for Air Traffic Control Trainees is an online course designed to improve Aviation English proficiency and learn content knowledge about air traffic control concepts. Through instruction and practice, students work to develop the English language skills needed by professional Air Traffic Controllers. This course also enables students to deepen their knowledge of aviation content related to air traffic control operations by studying topics and terminology in English.

Course Objectives 

Upon course completion, students should be able to: 

  1. Demonstrate understanding and application of terms and concepts related to the coursetopics.  
  2. Explain actions, procedures, checklists, causes, effects, and measures relevant to the course topics fluently.  
  3. Apply course vocabulary while reading, listening, and discussing content materials and completing operationally relevant tasks. 
  4. Demonstrate accurate pronunciation and structure while discussing course topics and using a variety of communicative functions and interaction strategies.  
  5. Apply strategies for successful completion of Aviation English proficiency tests. 

Course Information  

English for Air Traffic Control is a twelve (12) week course, including eight 6-day modules. It is a virtual, instructor-led course that includes both scheduled Live Sessions on Zoom and asynchronous homework activities in the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). A digital certificate is available upon completion of the course.  

Each day of the module, students will spend 1.5 hours in a Live Session and 2 hours completing homework on Canvas.
