Columbus State University's Continuing Education programs include a range of professional and technical courses designed to support career development, skill enhancement, and industry-recognized certifications. While some programs meet specific educational or certification requirements within Georgia, others are intended solely for professional enrichment and do not lead directly to state licensure or certification. Students are encouraged to review individual program details and consult the appropriate licensing or certification boards to determine eligibility and additional requirements in their state. 

Category 1 - Professional Development and Industry Certification Programs 

These programs are not designed to meet state licensure or certification requirements but provide valuable training for career advancement or national industry credentials. Examples include: 

  • Certificate in Mediation and Arbitration 
  • Chartered Tax Professional 
  • Court Interpreter and Federal Court Interpreter 
  • Optician Certification Training 
  • Registered Behavior Technician 

Category 2 - Georgia Licensure and Certification Preparation Programs 

These programs meet educational requirements for specific professional licensure or certification within the State of Georgia. Examples include: 

  • Real Estate Salesperson Pre-Licensing and related GREC-approved programs (Broker, CAM, CE, Post License) 
  • Digital Court Reporter / Digital Court Reporting with Legal Transcription (AAERT Certification recognized by the Georgia Board of Court Reporting) 

Category 3 - Supplemental Theory and Technical Training Programs 

These programs provide foundational theory or technical instruction but do not lead to licensure on their own. Students may pursue additional training or apprenticeships to meet licensing requirements. Examples include: 

  • Clinical Dental Assistant 
  • Electrical and Electronics Technician Certification 
  • HVAC/R Certified Technician and Residential Electrician 
  • Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) programs for Class A, B, Passenger, School Bus, and Hazardous Materials endorsements
