Course Detail: INTSW - Intermediate Sewing: Decoding Sewing Patterns

Students should be comfortable operating a sewing machine, sewing straight seams, and completing simple sewing projects independently.

Take the mystery out of commercial sewing patterns! This intermediate course teaches students how to confidently read pattern envelopes, understand pattern markings and instructions, select the correct size, lay out pattern pieces, and cut fabric accurately. Students will complete a simple project while learning the skills needed to successfully follow commercial sewing patterns on future projects. Classroom sewing machines are provided; however, students are welcome to bring their own sewing machine for added comfort and familiarity.
