Course Detail: TCYL - TESOL Certificate for Young Learners
Learn how to better teach and support young English learners with practical strategies grounded in second-language acquisition, child development, and internationally recognized educational standards.
The TESOL Certificate for Young Learners is a 40-hour online professional development program designed for educators working with children ages 6-12 in multilingual, international, and K-12 settings. Developed by a CELTA-certified trainer and informed by UNESCO standards, the program combines research-based principles with practical techniques educators can apply in real classrooms.
Originally developed for and taught to English-language educators in South Korea, the course prepares participants to design engaging, age-appropriate lessons; build vocabulary and literacy skills; encourage meaningful communication; manage multilingual learning environments; assess student progress; and use technology thoughtfully to support language learning.
The program is valuable for current ESL and TESOL teachers as well as classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, instructional staff, and other K-12 professionals who want to strengthen their ability to support students learning English.
Through interactive online modules, practical assignments, and portfolio-based work, participants leave with a stronger understanding of effective language instruction and ready-to-use strategies and materials for their own students.
Format: 40 hours of online instruction with interactive modules, practical assignments, and portfolio development.
