Course Description: CHN 141: Chinese Culture Through Film

This course introduces the history, politics, society, and economy of China through viewing and analyzing cinema. Examines how traditional Asian visual arts and centuries-old cultural tradition influenced filmmakers. This is a college-level course. Although assignments, tests, and quizzes are optional for Community Education students, you will be expected to fully participate. A textbook may be required for this course. Please check with the COCC Bookstore. This is a non-credit Community Education class. You will not receive college credit. No background in Chinese languages is required.

Additional Course Information

Students will attend class remotely via Zoom at specified times and will also complete asynchronous online work. These courses consist of fully online instruction and learning. Students participate via Canvas, COCC's online learning management system. Students meet regular deadlines and milestones throughout the course, but can participate weekly in the course based on their personal schedules.

Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash.
