Learn to use Japanese copic markers! This class is an introduction to alcohol-based copic markers and how they blend to create beautiful color artwork. You will learn what copic markers are, what the letters and numbers on the markers mean, and how copic markers are different from other kinds of markers. You will also get plenty of hands-on time to practice copic art techniques like blending, shading and layering, using multiliners, and drawing on different kinds of paper. During class, you will create a piece of copic artwork using what you have learned. Materials are required for this course. Embrace the world of jazz dance with experienced dance instructor Hilary Crockett. This beginning jazz dance class is suitable for the absolute beginner as well as those with more experience who wish to improve their dance conditioning. This exploratory workshop introduces participants to the world of alternative photo processes focusing on cyanotypes. Cyanotypes use the sun to create images on paper that can be toned with plants to create a host of different colors. Students will learn how to create cyanotypes with photograms and/or digital negatives and then use various plants to tone their creations.

Learn to create beautiful holiday wreaths with wreath maker Damian Fagan. Use fresh conifer greens, cones, berries, and other materials to make two holiday wreaths. This 4-week art journaling class designed to guide participants through an expressive, hands-on journey into creative self-discovery using layers of paint, paper, texture, and storytelling. Each class builds upon the last, combining guided instruction with personal exploration. Students will complete multiple journal spreads, explore color, texture, and meaning, and leave with two unique journals, one expressive and layered, the other portable, with a highly personalized, artistic cover.

This course provides terminology and skills for sound design, analyzing and writing basic music scores, and spotting cues for film/video/game music. Create unique sound scores using industry standard software for various media through practical, hands-on activities, including sound recording, editing and mixing, audio manipulation, and electronic synthesis. There is no textbook for this course. However, an external hard drive will be required to store projects; 250 GB would be a good minimum size since audio and video files are generally quite large. This is a non-credit Community Education class. You will not receive college credit.

Students will learn the history of rock music from its beginnings in earlier forms of popular music to the present; to understand the relationship of this music to larger cultural, political, and economic formations; and to become familiar with aspects of musical structure that have been used in rock music. Students must have the following equipment for this course: a digital camera with interchangeable lenses, a wide-angle lens, a tripod, and a portable computer or tablet with an Adobe Lightroom or equivalent photo editing software subscription. Contact the instructor if you have questions. The field session will take place near Sparks Lake along the Cascade Highway. To capture night sky photos, the sky must be mostly clear. Since there is no guarantee that the sky will be clear on the scheduled field session night, two alternate nights have been scheduled. Students must self-transport to field session(s).

Out from the past and into the present. Explore the world of film photography. Learn how to use your film camera, vintage or new! The course will cover the types of film, lenses, and camera types. You will learn how to load and unload the film, be it 35mm or 120 roll film. Learn to set your camera's exposure, F-stop, shutter speed, ISO, and focusing. Home development of the film will not be demonstrated. Bring your camera and film. This course is open to all film cameras.

Students will learn various techniques of working with clay through demonstrations and specific projects. Those with prior clay experience will review techniques and expand their skill level in both wheel throwing and hand building. Discover the art of skillful adult finger-painting! Acrylic pouring is a method of painting that is brush-free and uses gravity to spread fluid color on just about any surface. Acrylic pouring is easy, fun, and relaxing when you know what you're doing. By the end of the class, you will have completed 3-4 acrylic pouring paintings of various sizes. Even if you think you're not an artist, this class is for you! All supplies provided, and no experience necessary.

Redmond Community Choir provides an opportunity for amateur singers to participate in a fun choral singing experience. This non-auditioned ensemble will learn and perform a wide variety of musical styles and genres including classical, pop, sacred, jazz, and spiritual. The course will culminate with a concert performance at the end of the term. All experience levels are welcome. Bring $25 (cash or check) for a music rental fee to the first class session.
