Rigging Safety Awareness

The Rigging Safety Awareness Course is designed to give Site Supervisors, Foreman, and Safety managers a detailed overview of the hazardous conditions associated with rigging and hoisting operations. The course covers the identification, evaluation, prevention, and control of hazards associated with hoisting or lowering materials with cranes and other hoisting equipment.  Workers from the trades and crafts that use hoisting and rigging equipment will also benefit greatly from this course.  The class includes an explanation of the OSHA and ASME standards pertaining to rigging operations along with current industry best practices. At the conclusion of the course, students will have an awareness level of identifying hazards related to rigging operations and methods to control and abate the hazards.

To attend an OSHA-numbered course offered virtually (VILT) through USF OTIEC, participants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Be an existing student who has previously completed a USF OTIEC course, or
  • Provide a registration address located in one of the following states: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina
