Course Title: (HIS211) HISTORIC MITCHELVILLE: PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE

Join a guided tour of Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park on Hilton Head Island to learn about the important history of the first self-governed town of formerly enslaved people in the United States. The guide will also discuss future plans for the park and the organization.

Ahmad Ward

Biography: AHMAD WARD is the Executive Director for the Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park located on Hilton Head Island, SC. Ward previously spent fifteen years leading the Education Department at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute in Birmingham AL. He and his wife, Dafina, have two brilliant daughters, Masani Ashiya and Aminah Elon.
