Course Title: (MUS106) FROM ELVIS TO ELTON - WHEN OUR MUSIC RULED THE WORLD

Every generation is defined by its music. Our music was rock and roll! In this class, we will explore the origins of rock and roll, in particular two television performances - Elvis on the "Ed Sullivan Show" on September 9, 1956, and the Beatles on February 9, 1964 - that changed everything in popular music for the baby boom generation. These landmark events continue to shape our culture far beyond those brief performances. Learn how the performances came to be, behind-the-scenes trivia, and the effect they had on our lives. Bring your memories to share!
