Over a two-day period on March 2-3 in 1859, one of the largest sales of human beings occurred in Savannah, Georgia. During that two-day time span, there was such torrential rainfall that it was believed that heaven opened, and God himself cried. Lillian will explain and expound upon the events that led up to this tragic moment in America's history. Ms. Grant-Baptiste will use the power of the spoken word and storytelling to transport the audience back to that tragic day. She will lamentingly and skillfully use the power of story to commemorate the event and pay homage to those four hundred and twenty-nine souls who sold that sad day. This program promises to inform, stir, and move all in attendance.
