Course Title: (CRE10226) SWEETGRASS SEWING HISTORY AND COASTER MAKING WORKSHOP

Dino Badger will share insights into the rich history of the Gullah Geechee culture and Sweetgrass basketry. Then, participants will be guided in the historical and spiritual art of Sweetgrass basket sewing, culminating in the completion of an individual coaster.

Dino Badger

Biography: DINO BADGER was raised in Brooklyn, NY, spending his childhood summers with his family in Colleton County. In high school, he moved with his family to the South and is grateful for his deep connection to Gullah culture. He learned to make baskets from Michael Smalls, a seventh-generation basket sewer. Today, Dino is a full-time basket crafter, sharing the Gullah traditions, food, language, history, and art.
