Biography: BILLCOSGROVE is a graduate of both theUniversity of Georgia and Clemson University. He retired from the US EPAfollowing a 35-year career in Athens, GA. He also served as an adjunctinstructor at UGA for 32 years and has taught with OLLI programs at UGA, NorthFlorida, and UNC Asheville since 2013. Bill's real interest is WWII history, ashis father served with the American Field Service and his father-in-law as anartillery officer in Patton's 3rd Army. He is a volunteer withthe Witness to War program and author of Time on Target: the 945th FieldArtillery Battalion in WWII. |

Operation Nordwind in the Alsace Lorraine area was a follow-on offensive in January 1945 following the Battle of the Bulge. This American victory paved the way for the entry into southern Germany. The series is based on interviews with combat veterans, several visits to the battlefields by the presenter, after-action reports, and period topo maps.
