Course Title: (HIS218) DAY TRIP TO NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE MIGHTY EIGHTH AIR FORCE

The National Museum of the Mighty 8th Air Force is offering OLLI members VIP treatment on a day it is closed to the public! First, OLLI members will attend a Norden Bombsight demonstration from Dr. Tim Moore. The Norden was an integral element in the 8th Air Force's precision daylight bombing campaign. It allowed relatively accurate bombing from high altitude and, uniquely, was tied into our bomber's flight controls. The Mighty 8th Museum has an exclusive, world-class collection of operable bombsights. Dr. Moore will explain the historical technology and take us on a typical bomb run using an actual vintage Norden. Then, explore the museum on a guided tour with trained docents.
