Course Title: (MUS204) THE MIDDLE YEARS OF ROCK (1960-1964) - When Our Music Ruled the World

As the early years of Rock and Roll music began to fade, new music emerged from girl bands out of New York City, created by Phil Spector to the Doo-Wop groups with their street-corner harmonies. Not to forget the old/new music that appeared in Greenwich Village, New York, labeled as Folk Music. Think Kingston Trio, Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul& Mary, and Joan Baez. Out of Detroit came Motown music that so many of us danced to. Beach music, highlighted by The Beach Boys, also fit into this period. This class will introduce or reintroduce you to that wonderful era. Bring your memories.
