Course Title: (HIS118) THE COMING OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION 1760-1776

The class begins with a concise overview of the key forces, issues, institutions, and personalities that created the conditions for the colonies' rebellion against the British crown. It then examines the aftermath of the Seven Years' War, including the crown's efforts to raise revenue and the colonists' growing resistance. The course traces the escalating tensions, deepening mistrust, and the ideological beliefs that shaped the American perspective, culminating in the decision to convene the Continental Congress and ultimately declare independence.
