Course Title: (HIS221) THE SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR 1898: CONTEXT, CAUSES, COMBAT AND CONSEQUENCES

Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders and the sinking of the USS Maine may come to mind when recalling the Spanish-American War. This course explores the broader context, causes-including Cuba's independence struggle-combat operations, and lasting consequences like U.S. acquisition of Puerto Rico and Guantanamo Bay. Held at Fort Fremont, built to defend South Carolina from Spanish threats.
