Offsite: Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge This is a 2-mile walk on Pinckney Island of Hilton Head. Parking is limited. There are no restrooms at this facility. You will be walking on uneven ground. Bring water, your camera, and bug spray.Directions: The location is at Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge, located between the bridges near Hilton Head. From Bluffton, take 278 towards Hilton Head. Look for signs on the bridge to Hilton Head and turn left into the refuge. Coming from Hilton Head Island, the entrance is on the right. Please arrive by 7:45. The tour will start promptly at 8:00 a.m.

Carlos Chacon

Biography: CARLOS CHACON, a Costa Rican naturalist, has led tropical tours since 1996. He holds degrees from the University of Costa Rica and the University of South Carolina. Based on Hilton Head Island, he works with the Coastal Discovery Museum, leading programs and managing the butterfly enclosure. He now leads multiple Costa Rica trips each year focused on wildlife, conservation, and natural history.
