Course Title: (SCI101) CLIMATE CHANGE FROM AN EARTH SCIENCE PERSPECTIVE

Over its 4.6-billion-year history, Earth's climate has undergone dramatic changes. There have been two principal climatic states - "greenhouse" and "icehouse" - with many variations in between, though warmer periods have dominated. This presentation will explore our current climate change predicament from an earth science perspective, with a focus on the Lowcountry. Topics will include public perception of observable climate change, scientific observations, the mechanics of climate change, ancient climates, climate modeling and future predictions, what society can and must do, and the urgency of achieving net-zero or even negative carbon emissions.
