Returning from a mission to Germany, American B-17s drone over the Belgian countryside. Piloting one Flying Fortress is Erwin Schmidt, with engineer Robert Deignan standing behind him. Suddenly, disaster strikes. This presentation will cover the tragic incident that claimed Robert and Erwin's lives and the genealogical journey that brought together three families of the 92nd Bombardment Group eight decades later.
