Course Title: (HIS12426Z) UNEXPECTED CHALLENGES THE FOUNDERS FAILED TO PREDICT

This is being presented from and in collaboration with William & Mary College in Williamsburg, VA

To compromise, the Constitutional Framers left some areas to vague. Explore what those areas led to that they did not anticipate. The assumed foreign relations would remain the same and changing situations left them scrambling. As we examine the consequences of these, we encourage participants to form their own opinions, push back, and question their decisions and motivations. Examine France our friend and foe, the Louisiana Purchase's legality, the cause and long-term consequences of the War of 1812, Why did Revolutionary hero, Benedict Arnold, become a traitor, and what and how did Marbury vs Madison challenge basic concepts embedded in the Constitution. How did the Framers and Founders justify their own actions while condemning others? How do these challenges affect us today or provide insights into our often-divided history.
