Course Title: (HIS11826) WRITTEN IN THE BRICKS: THE STORY OF FORT PULAKSI
Park Ranger Shannon Rowe explores how the story of Fort Pulaski (a coastal fortification that was built between 1829 and 1847 to protect the Port of Savannah) is written in the bricks - huge craters and embedded artillery projectiles demonstrate the power of rifled cannons; fingerprints preserved in the bricks speak to the institution of slavery, and the fight for freedom; soldier graffiti and paintings on the walls connect us to historic figures who were just as creative as we are today.
