Global Trends 2040: A More Contested World is a report by the U.S. National Intelligence Council (NIC) that assesses the forces shaping the world over the next two decades, projecting a more fragmented and competitive international environment. It identifies four key structural forces-demographics, environment, economics, and technology-and explores how they interact with emerging dynamics to create potential scenarios for 2040, emphasizing challenges such as climate change, economic inequality, and technological disruption. This program will examine the implications for the United States.
