Course Notes:

Tour location: The tour will begin at the duPont Conservation Hall. If you put our address (161 Nemours Plantation Rd. Yemassee, SC 29945) into Google Maps, it will direct you to our main entrance but not to the proper building. After turning onto Nemours Plantation Rd, follow the signs to the Conservation Hall. Follow the main drive until you reach a three-way split and take the left-most road. Continue along this road until you see a large two-story brick building on the left. This is our research laboratory and is closed to visitors. The duPont Conservation Hall is a one-story building with large glass double-doors. There is a paved walkway leading from the drive to the Conservation Hall. Parking: There are no designated parking spaces near the Conservation Hall, but we have plenty of space underneath our oak trees. Please park vehicles in the grass opposite the two buildings. There will be a Nemours staff member underneath the small pavilion to greet people, check people in, and direct people to facilities about fifteen minutes before the tour start time. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes early to be checked in by our staff. Trailer tour: This tour will take place on an open-air trailer with cushioned bench seating. We will make periodic stops to talk about the Foundation's history, address current conservation efforts, and enjoy the sights and sounds. This tour requires limited walking. What to bring: Dress is casual. Check the weather report and dress appropriately as you will be outside. Come prepared with a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses, reusable water bottle, rain jacket (weather dependent), and maybe even binoculars or a camera. Bring anything you think would make your outdoor excursion more comfortable. Attendees are encouraged to pack a bag lunch to enjoy underneath the pavilion after the program.
