Course Title: (ECO208) EDISTO ISLAND ECOLOGY DAY TOUR
This class uses a random draw waitlist selection for participation, with participants being notified on January 27, 2026. If selected, you'll be notified and must pay a $90 tour fee to confirm your spot. If not selected, you'll stay on the waitlist and will be contacted if a space opens.
Please do not show up unless you've been confirmed and paid - stand by admittance is no longer allowed.Edisto Island is one of South Carolina's Sea Islands, known for its rich history, vibrant culture, and delicate ecosystem as part of the ACE Basin. This small group tour will explore Edisto Island and includes a 2-hour boat ride with Botany Bay Ecotours, as well as a naturalist-led beach discovery walk and a tour of the historic Botany Bay Wildlife Management Area. The eco-tour will highlight the natural history of the ACE Basin and the historic event of Harriet Tubman's Combahee Ferry Raid. Jill Moore, Master Naturalist, will guide the group on a beach discovery walk along Botany Bay Beach, sharing insights about the ecosystem and the natural treasures. A brief history of the area will be shared during the drive through the former plantation.

NOTE: $85.00 tour fee covers transportation, tours, and docents. It does not include lunch, so members are free to pack their own. Members of this eco tour experience should feel comfortable walking (1 mile), standing, and being on a boat. Clothing should include closed-toe footwear and a light jacket if needed. Bug repellent, water, and if desired, binoculars are recommended.
